Virginia Sheridan Obituary, Death – Virginia Rose Sheridan, a beloved resident of East Setauket, New York, passed away on September 10, 2023, following a prolonged illness. Born to Julia and Niel Johnson in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, on October 29, 1943, she was a musical prodigy during her high school years, excelling in the viola and clarinet. Virginia pursued her passion for music at West Virginia University, where she met and married Philip John Sheridan Jr., with whom she had two children, Sharon Joyce and Philip Geoffrey.

The family settled in Long Island, where Virginia became an active community member, volunteering in schools, Scouts, and church activities. She was known for her culinary talents, sharing traditional family recipes and delights from her heritage with friends and loved ones. Virginia’s love for music endured throughout her life, from playing viola at Stony Brook University to participating in the Sweet Adelines and even mastering line dancing. Her enthusiasm for learning led her to explore languages, financial planning, and even kayaking.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, her daughter and son, their spouses, grandchildren, brother William, sister-in-law Bonnie, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on September 23 at Caroline Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Virginia Rose Sheridan’s life was marked by love, dedication, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, leaving a lasting legacy of warmth and generosity in her community.
