Reida Baines Obituary, Death – Indian Land – On September 2, 2023, at the age of 73, Reida Edwards Baines, who resided in Indian Land, passed away at the residence of her sister. She was the daughter of the late Troy O. and Lillian Reid Edwards and the wife of Larry Paul Baines for a beautiful 50 years. She was born in Spartanburg. Her parents both passed away. Reida took early retirement from Re/Max and earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of South Carolina.
Reida attended both the Union United Methodist Church in Irmo, where she was a member for more than 40 years, and the Weddington Methodist Church in Weddington, North Carolina, which she attended regularly. She took pleasure in activities such as tennis and socializing with her friends, but her grandchildren were the source of her greatest pride. Reida was a passionate and faithful individual who loved the Lord, her family, her church, and the town in which she lived.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorrie Cavanaugh (Rex), of Indian Land; her two sons, Todd Baines (Kloie) of Catawba and Preston Baines of Chapin; one sister, Susan Graham of Woodruff; sister-in-law Kathy Baines of Gaffney; and her six grandchildren, Lucy, Sophie, Liam, Harper, Lilly, and Corrina Rose. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on the day of the Celebration of Life, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. and take place at Union United Methodist Church, located at 7582 Woodrow Street in Irmo, South Carolina 29063.
Any space that Reida visited was instantly more vibrant as a result, and attendees are urged to dress in bright colors and wear Gamecock colors. Donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research can be donated in Reida’s memory by visiting the website michaeljfox.org. The family requests that flowers not be sent in place of memorial contributions. The family is being cared for by Pollard Funeral Home at this time.
