Paul Obituary, former Penallta Troop Team Manager Has Died

Paul Obituary, Death – With a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Paul Ansell, former Penallta Troop Team Manager, following a recent battle with illness. On Wednesday, September 6th, Paul peacefully departed from this world, surrounded by his family.

Paul was an exceptional man who dedicated many selfless years to the service of our esteemed club. His journey began with humble tasks like running onto the field with the first aid bag, eventually leading to his role as team manager. Paul’s contributions extended even further as he took on the responsibilities of the team physiotherapist and various other roles essential to a voluntary community club like ours.

In addition to his official duties, Paul donned countless hats, from chauffeuring players to and from training and games to offering sage guidance during rugby tours, including mop-up duty after some memorable escapades. He embodied the spirit of a true clubman, and the tributes pouring in for him are a testament to his remarkable character.

Many cherished memories and anecdotes revolve around the legendary tours Paul accompanied us on. He relished those tours as much as the players did and played an invaluable role in ensuring they went smoothly. On one unforgettable tour to Amsterdam, an unnamed member of the party turned a hotel’s second floor into an impromptu swimming pool with an industrial fire hose. Paul, ever the reliable figure, was there to clean up the aftermath. His nurturing presence earned him the affectionate nickname “Padre” following a tour to Belgium, where the boys cherished the time he spent with them.

Paul was not only a mentor but also a father figure to the young talents he guided. His pride in being part of their journey and witnessing their successes was evident in his eyes. He played a pivotal role in Penallta’s accomplishments over two decades and was a source of inspiration and respect for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paul Ansell’s legacy will forever be etched in the annals of Penallta’s history. His dedication, love, and unwavering support enriched the lives of countless young players and brought success to our club. As we bid farewell to this exceptional individual, our hearts are heavy, but our gratitude for his enduring impact is immeasurable.
