Michael Sparks Obituary, Death – Michael Andrew Sparks, age 70, of Hughesville, Maryland, passed away in the comfort of his own home on July 1, 2023. He was accompanied by family and friends at the time of his passing. Michael was born on March 29th, 1953 in the town of Elkin, which is located in the state of North Carolina. Twenty years, four months, and eighteen days of his life were dedicated to serving honorably in the United States Air Force.

He left active service but continued to work for the Air Force for another 25 years as a contractor with Son’s Quality Food Company, where he was a respected and well-liked part of their team. During those years, he served the Air Force in a capacity that allowed him to retire from active duty. Cooking, hunting, fishing, and NASCAR were among of Michael’s favorite hobbies.

He was a fighter who beat cancer seven times before finally giving in to it for the eighth and final time. Even though he did not have any of his own children, he loved his nieces and nephews just as much as he did his own. He will be sorely missed by everyone. Michael’s mother Patricia Ann Joyce, his father Ora Andrew Sparks, and his brother James Ora Sparks all passed away before him. Patricia Ann Joyce was Michael’s wife of 25 years. His first and second nieces and nephews, Bradley, Shannon, Chris, and Linsey, Aiden, Sophia, and Fiona, are among those he leaves behind.

The memorial service is scheduled to take place on July 15th, 2023 at the funeral home. The family will greet friends beginning at one in the afternoon and continuing up until the time of the funeral at three. His final resting place will be in Arlington National Cemetery at some point in the future. Michael was the kind of man who always put others before himself. The family begs that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
