Mary McDonnell Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of our community, Mary Patricia McDonnell. On September 1, 2023, at the remarkable age of 102, Mary left this world to be with her loved ones who had gone before her. Her journey in life was marked by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and friends. Born in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Mary Patricia McDonnell was a daughter of Bernard and Catherine Lynch. She grew up in a close-knit family, surrounded by her siblings Joseph, Melvin, Reggie, and Leo.

Mary’s life was touched by both joy and sorrow. She faced the unimaginable pain of losing her son, Joseph, and her brothers Joseph, Melvin, Reggie, and Leo before her own passing. These losses undoubtedly left deep voids in her heart, but she carried on with a strength and grace that were truly admirable. Mary Patricia McDonnell leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her surviving family. She is survived by her sons, Gerard, Bernard, and Reggie, who were undoubtedly the center of her world.

Her sister, Anita Smith, was a constant source of companionship and support. Mary’s grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer, Marsha, Brian, and Kaitlin, were the apples of her eye, and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Makyla, Vivian, Cade, and Kylie, brought immense joy into her life. She also leaves behind her great-nephew Bradley Lynch and several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Mary Patricia McDonnell made countless cherished memories with her family and friends. She shared stories, laughter, and love with those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all those she touched.

To honor Mary’s memory and her deep connection to her faith, a visitation will be held at the Northumberland Funeral Home (102 Pleasant St, Miramichi, NB E1V1X7) on Monday, September 4th, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (12 St. Patricks Dr, Miramichi, NB E1N5T9). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy be made through donations to St. Patrick’s Memorial Fund. This contribution will serve as a lasting tribute to Mary’s memory and her unwavering faith. Mary Patricia McDonnell touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and love. She will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of a life well-lived. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
