Jessie Slayton Obituary, Death – Jesse O’Ferrel Slayton, age 91, of Birmingham, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2019, and will be reunited with the love of his life, Maude Elaine Staggs Slayton. Jesse O’Ferrel Slayton was married to Maude Elaine Staggs Slayton for 67 years. Jesse met his future wife, Maude Elaine Staggs, while he was attending Bob Jones University in South Carolina in 1947.

They wed the following year. Their union resulted in the birth of three children. On May 28, 2016, after 67 years of marriage, Maude Slayton departed to be with the Lord. She and her husband will be eternally reunited with their son Jonathon Slayton, who also passed away before him. Martha Elaine Slayton Stark (Mike) and Timothy Lee Slayton are the ones left behind to carry on Jesse’s family legacy.

Jesse’s grandkids Melissa Deanne Slayton, Christopher Lee (Jennifer), Justin Matthew Stark, and Rebeccah Janelle Slayton are also left behind. Timothy James Slayton, Christian Slayton, and Stephen Shane (India) Slayton; great-grandchildren Joshua Carter Hall, Kaiden Izaiah Tios, Oliver Allen Gilbreath, Cambree rose Stark, and Teagan Rae Stark; caregiver Maria Norris; and a large number of additional relatives and friends.

Everyone who knew and loved Jesse is going to miss him terribly. At the Valhalla Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, from 11 am to 1 pm, there will be a viewing conducted for the deceased. The funeral services will begin at one in the afternoon, and the burial will take place in Valhalla Cemetery.
