Jerry Getty Obituary, Death – Kulpmont On April 12, 2019, Gerald Getty, 83, passed away at his home in Den Mar Gardens. Gerry was born in Centralia on September 10, 1935, and lived there all of his life before moving to Den Mar Gardens in 1986. He completed high school at Con-Cen High School in Aristes, Pennsylvania, in 1953. On May 2, 1959, Gerald wed the surviving former Pauline Fedorko. At the Grace Lutheran Church in Shamokin, they were married by the late Reverend Robert Arentz.
They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on May 2. Gerald was a mechanic for Yarworth’s Service Station in Centralia. He ran the Ashland Service Centre in Ashland for 47 years before retiring in 2002. Former member Gerald previously served on the administration board of the Centralia United Methodist Church. He recently participated in church activities at Mount Carmel First United Methodist Church. In spite of receiving a kidney transplant in 1990 and suffering from many cardiac issues,
Gerald refused to give up his favourite pastimes, including visiting his granddaughters’ extracurricular activities, organising family gatherings, and displaying his sizable model train collection. He was always the life of the party with his one-liners, and he was happiest when he was among his loved ones. Gerry will be remembered with affection by his wife Pauline, his son Bret Getty and his fiancée Diane Rompallo, and his daughter Deidre Hughes and her partner Don Hughes.
Gerald’s five granddaughters, Shauna Blee and her husband Ryan, Amber Latorre and her husband Michael, Kaitlyn Brown and her husband Troy, Taylor Getty, and Cameron Getty, will also cherish their memories of him. Ariel Brown, Carson Latorre, and Jarrett Blee were Gerald’s three great-grandchildren, and he loved spending time with them. Along with his brother Donald Getty and his wife Sandra, he is also survived by Eleanor Searls, Beverly Weikel, and other relatives.
