George Lokers Obituary, Death – On September 10, 2023, George Alan Lokers, who was 84 years old and lived in Holland, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior in heaven. His loved ones and friends will miss him very much after his passing. On September 4, 1939, George was born to his parents, George and Nella Lokers, in the town of Zeeland, Michigan. The love he had for his wife Sharon and their children was his primary motivation in life. He spent the majority of his 48-year career as a Master Wood Carver at Baker Furniture.

He also took pleasure in going camping, collecting antiques, visiting Mackinaw with his family, and being retired for over twenty years at this point in his life. Both George and Sharon spent their whole lives as congregants of Ebenezer Reformed Church, where he was a teacher in the church’s Sunday school for a number of years.

Sharon Lokers, George’s wife and the love of his life, is the only person he leaves behind. They just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his three daughters, Joy (Peter) Shannon, Jody (Greg) Sheldon, and Gail (Kyle) Lindberg; six grandchildren, Mackenzie Shannon, Liam (Hattie) Shannon, Zachary (Alyssa) Sheldon, Jordyn (Neil) Woodwyk, Nathaniel Sheldon, Logan (Heather) Gehrke; and six great grandchildren, Scarlette, Vivienne, Theodore, Elliott, Pyper, Skylar, with two more little ones on the way.

Both the visitation and the funeral ceremony will take place at the Dykstra Funeral Home Northwood Chapel, which is located at 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland, Michigan. On Wednesday, September 13, visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a memorial ceremony at 11:00 am, and then a luncheon will take held after the service. Hugh Randle, pastor at The Foundry Church, will preside over the ceremony as the officiant. A private funeral and burial service will be held for the surviving members of the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Headin’ Home Pet Rescue, located at 185 Panther Drive, Holland, Michigan 49424.
