Edward L. Freye Obituary, Sheboygan, A Cherished Soul Has Passed Away
Edward L. Freye Obituary, Death – Edward L. Freye, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away at home with his wife by his side on Saturday morning, September 2, 2023. Edward was born on July 16, 1930 in Sheboygan to the late George Harris and Emma Martha Liedtke Freye. He attended institutions in the Sheboygan area and graduated in 1949 from Central High School. He was married to Carol Mae Eisold at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on November 10, 1951.
Edward enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and served his nation for 27 years as a Seabee around the country before his honorable discharge in 1975. He served in the United States Naval Reserves until 1978. Following his military service, he and his wife Carol owned and operated coin-operated laundries in Oxnard and Port Hueneme, California for 20 years. He was also an electrician for both Ace Electrical and Weinkauf Electric. His retirement occurred in 1995. In their Born Free RV, Carol and Ed traveled extensively throughout the back highways of the United States. They were Ventura County Corvette Club and Born Free RV Club members. He was a member of Sheboygan’s First Presbyterian Church.
Carol, his wife of 71 years, survives him, as do his nieces and nephews David and Debbie Freye, Phillip and Diana Freye, Theresa and Robert Leffel, Jeffery Freye, Jan and Vicki Coccia, Louis Wiseman, Patricia and Dan Cox, Leanne Brulla, Joan Kummer, and Barbara and Mike Zeller, as well as a large number of great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Harris and Robert, sisters Rebecca Fiebrink and Leah Wiseman, and two nephews James Coccia and James Fiebrink. Edward will be accorded full military honors on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1111 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. Friday at 3:00 p.m., family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home.
