Connie Johnson Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Connie Sander Johnson, who once resided in Sylvania, Ohio, passed away. She was born to LaVerne (Edwards) Sander and William Sander on July 5, 1942 in Toledo, Ohio. Her mother’s maiden name was Edwards. The city of Toledo was Connie’s childhood home, and she attended and graduated from DeVilbiss High School.
Volunteering was something that was very important to Connie, and she did it for a wide variety of causes and organizations, including Nightingales Harvest, Mobile Meals, Flower Hospital Gift Shop, and Baskets of Care. The infectious laughter that was Connie’s signature, her keen sense of humor, and the undying love that she had for her family and friends will be sorely missed.
John Johnson, Connie’s spouse, as well as both of Connie’s parents, passed away before she did. Connie is survived by her devoted and loving daughter Beth Chase, her sisters Bev (Larry) Kahl and Susan (Jim) Sponsler, her nieces and nephew Leanne Dunlap, Jennifer Sponsler, Julie (Dan) Kunos, and Matthew Sponsler, and her great-nieces and great-nephews Quinn and Colin Dunlap, Addie and Ben Kunos, and Meredith and Gwen Sponsler.
On Monday, September 18, 2023, the public is invited to pay their respects at the Walker Funeral Home, located at 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue in Toledo, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of the deceased will start at 12:30 p.m. and will also take place at Walker. Donations can be sent to Nightingales Harvest, which is located at 2820 West Alexis in Toledo, Ohio 43613. This is in place of flowers. Connie received outstanding medical attention from the nursing team working on the fifth floor of Flower Hospital, and her family would like to express their gratitude for this.
