Catherine Heffernan Obituary, Death – Catherine Mary Heffernan was her full name. Catherine Mary Heffernan, previously of Windsor and originally from Kilkenny, Ireland, passed away at the ripe old age of 95 in a quiet and dignified manner on Friday, September 8, 2023, at North Lambton Lodge. She was a resident of Forest. Catherine spent many years working as a teacher for the Catholic School Board, where she served with pride and devotion. In 1988, she and her close friend and colleague educator Kay Beadon both retired to the town of Forest in the province of Ontario.
Gardening, traveling, and giving endless hours of their time to volunteer work in the community and at their cherished Catholic church were just a few of the activities that kept the two women busy. In addition to her immediate family in Ireland, Catherine is survived by her two brothers-in-law, John and Peter. Catherine also had a large extended family in Ireland. Her sisters Patricia, Josephine, Eleanor, and Mary, as well as her brothers Andrew and James, have passed away before her.
Catherine also leaves behind her devoted friends Nellie and Joe Boere of Forest, Ontario, who made certain that she was well taken care of and loved throughout her life. Catherine received care and compassion from the personnel at North Lambton Lodge, in particular from the caregivers in the Oak wing, over the ten years that she called North Lambton Lodge her home. A special, heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at North Lambton Lodge, but in particular to the carers in the Oak wing. On Catherine’s birthday, September 14th, 2023, at 11 am, St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church in Forest will host a Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will take place an hour before the Mass. Catherine will be laid to rest in the Christian faith.
