On August 30, 1968, Candice Sue Himle came into the world as the daughter of Sterling and Cindy (Kerr) Himle. Candy received her high school diploma from Blooming Prairie in the year 1986. After that, she received her diploma as a practical nurse from St. Mary’s School of Practical Nursing in Rochester in 1987.
After that, Candy started her thirty-year career with Mayo, first in Albert Lea, then in Owatonna, and when the Faribault Clinic opened, she began working with Dr. Sarah Beckmann as a pediatric specialist. Candy’s career spanned three different locations. She had worked at Lincoln Elementary School as Nurse Candy for the last five years.
She just started working for Inisfail, Inc. in Faribault not too long ago. She formerly shared a marriage to John Buckwheat, but they have since separated. Christ Lutheran Church played host to the wedding ceremony that brought Candy and Brian Gunderson together on August 21, 2004. They did everything as a unit to raise their blended family as one.
Candy’s interests included scrapbooking, music, reading, and spending time in the great outdoors with her boyfriend, Brian. Her survivors include her husband, Brian; her children, Andy (and Emily) Gunderson and Stephanie (and Gabe) Wilson; stepdaughter, Melissa (and Khiel) Ryberg; grandson, Beau; her father, Sterling Himle; brother, Steve Himle; sisters, Michelle (and Randy) Krohnberg and Sheri (and Jeff) Schroeder; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ted and Marlyss Gunderson; and other relatives and friends. Cindy Himle, Candy’s mother, passed away before her daughter’s birth.
