Bill Parker Obituary, Friends And Family Mourns Death Of World War II veteran

Bill Parker Obituary, Death – Bill Parker, a World War II veteran who was 98 years old and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away at home today, as his family informed me this afternoon. Over the past several years, I’ve had the great opportunity to get to know Bill and hear his incredible tale of serving our country in the military so many decades ago. He has been a true inspiration to me. He was always such a pleasant, humorous, and fascinating man, and I always looked forward to the time that I got to spend with him.

Even though the interviews I conducted with him were among the longest I’ve ever conducted, I never got the impression that they were time-consuming. Bill, like a great number of other war veterans in our town, spent the most of his life clinging to distressing recollections of his time in the military and fighting against the effects of those recollections. He only started talking about what it was like to fight for our country not too long ago, and what he went through is truly remarkable.

In addition, it was only recently when Bill began to receive some significant acknowledgment for his contribution. Even though I am aware that Bill never pursued notoriety for his efforts, I am ecstatic that he was successful in this endeavor. It has been such a pleasure to get to know Bill over the past few years, and I believe that being able to share his story has been one of the most personally meaningful and fantastic experiences of my journalism career.
May God grant him eternal rest
